March 26, 2015 by AP-Networks Leave a Comment After a great evening program that provided plenty of opportunity to network, share knowledge, and have some fun, the second day of TINC Europe 2015 kicked off. Building upon Nathan Centofanti’s presentation on turnaround performance outcomes from yesterday, Ben van Roij, Senior Consultant for AP-Networks, offered the audience insight into the turnaround practices that drive readiness. Ben identified the key attributes shared by top quartile performers for both upstream and downstream turnarounds, and examined the tactical level enablers and practices that they employ. Ronnel Desario, Turnaround Process Mentor at Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, presented a case study titled “Continuous Improvement – The Power of Performance Benchmarking.” Punctuated throughout with benchmarking data, Ronnel’s presentation guided the audience from the initial phases of setting up a benchmarking program, through key action plans and early wins, to the path forward. Yesterday, Daniel Koch told the audience that internal change can take years. Ronnel echoed this idea in his own presentation, stating that, “Success does not happen overnight. It is always a journey.” Gordon Lawrence, Senior Consultant and Manager, Capital Projects EMEA for AP-Networks, highlighted the importance of project and turnaround integration. Drawing on data from the AP-Networks Turnaround Database, Gordon went into detail about where typical integration issues arise. He went on to explain how to measure the level of integration, and how such a measurement can help the various stakeholders to overcome integration challenges. To conclude, Gordon told the audience that it is up to the Project Manager and to site leadership to ensure that turnaround information and requirements are included during the conceptual design stage. Following another fruitful Breakout Session, TINC Europe 2015 concluded with the Expert Panel, a moderated interactive question and answer session with our panel of TINC Europe presenters. In his closing remarks, John Alkemade, Director EMEA at AP-Networks, thanked all of the participants and presenters for their involvement. Wishing everyone safe travels home, he expressed his excitement to see everyone back at TINC Europe 2016.
