September 24, 2021 by Vice President, EMEA & AP-Asia Pacific John Alkemade is the Vice President, EMEA & AP-Asia Pacific for Asset Performance Networks, based out of the company’s office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He possesses more than 25 years of project and turnaround management experience spanning the energy, oil and gas, and chemical industries. In his current role, John shares responsibility for the development and growth of the company’s presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. As a part of AP-Networks, John has been active in helping clients with both turnarounds and capital projects. He has executed numerous Turnaround Assist Programs (T-AP), Risk Based Scope Reviews (RBSR), and Work Process Developments, and has provided various additional project management services. John was instrumental in the development of AP-Networks’ Pyxis tool, and was active in the development of the full AP-Networks tool suite. In 1991, John started his career as a process design engineer for Lummus Crest in The Netherlands. He also has worked as a Project Manager – Dynamic Simulations for ABB Simcon, and later as an Ethylene Business Development Manager for ABB Lummus Global. Prior to joining AP-Networks, John worked at IPA as a Senior Project Management Consultant – Capital Project Benchmarking. As a leading industry expert in change management and the development of managerial tools geared toward project and turnaround performance improvement, John has written white papers and delivered presentations at numerous international conferences. John holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam.
