October 11, 2015 by October 15th, 2015 | Toronto, Canada AP-Networks Managing Director George DeBakey will be speaking at the CANDU Refurbishment Workshop in Toronto, held by the CANDU Owners Group, Inc. (COG). The workshop will focus on the inherent challenges of CANDU reactor refurbishments, and the strategies for overcoming these challenges. George’s presentation, titled “Predictable Projects and Outages,” will share lessons learned and best practices from both the project and turnaround areas of the refining and chemical industries. With his presentation, George will chart a path forward toward predictable outcomes for these often unpredictable CANDU reactor refurbishment events. George is uniquely qualified to give this presentation, as his career is almost evenly split between projects and turnarounds/outages, and between the process industry and the commercial nuclear power industry. With George’s unique experience, backed by the empirical power of data and evaluative tools, this presentation is poised to be the first step in transforming the CANDU refurbishment industry from its current state to one of consistently safe, event free, predictable, and competitive outcomes. The CANDU Owners Group Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing programs for cooperation, mutual assistance and exchange of information for the successful support, development, operation, maintenance, and economics of CANDU technology.
