Tom Mankowski is a Senior Consultant with Asset Performance Networks, based out of the company’s office in Houston, Texas. His career spans twenty years, and includes experience in both refining and the U.S. Army. Throughout this career, Tom has honed his skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Since joining AP-Networks, Tom has executed more than two dozen assessments each year. These assessments have taken the form of Turnaround Assist Programs (T-AP), Integrated Turnaround Assist Programs (iT-AP), Risk Based Scope Reviews (RBSR), and Experience Augmentations (EA). Additionally, he has conducted numerous training sessions for steering and strategy teams. With extensive leadership experience in turnarounds and many other refinery management roles, Tom is uniquely qualified to coach site leadership on the most effective means of supporting turnarounds and turnaround teams. In addition to conducting leadership training sessions, he has also helped to develop AP-Networks’ leadership training process.

Prior to joining AP-Networks, Tom worked at Sunoco’s Marcus Hook refinery as the Maintenance Process Improvement Manager. In this role, he initiated and championed workflow process improvements that were adopted across the company. Tom has served at three different Sunoco refineries in numerous leadership roles, including Engineer, Engineering Manager, Turnaround Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, and Process Improvement Manager.

Throughout his career in refining Tom spearheaded many initiatives, including the development and rollout of an improved RCFA process, implementation of a risk based inspection process, development of material operating envelopes for the refining process units, a fully digital turnaround planning process, and maintenance process improvements. During his tenure at Sunoco, Tom also led numerous planned and unplanned turnarounds of all complexities.

Prior to his work in refining, Tom held various operations, maintenance, and logistics positions in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot.

Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
