Kaija Penley is an Instructional Designer with the Capability Development and Learning (CD&L) division of Asset Performance Networks, based out of the company’s office in Houston, Texas. She provides learning and development support in various stages of the instructional design and development process for global training events.

Kaija has handled numerous responsibilities involved in developing CD&L’s instructional courses and materials, including management of change processes, maintenance of facilitator guides, copyediting, and registration management. In addition, Kaija has managed online surveys of course delegates and their line managers, and compiled, analyzed, and distributed the resulting data to ensure that the CD&L courses achieved their desired impact.

Kaija has worked on numerous CD&L courses including: BP Risk Assurance Tool (RAT) eLearn, Managing Operations (MO), Executive Commercial Leaders Development Program (ECLDP), Continuous Improvement Coach Training, Deployed Assurance Workshop, and Process Safety for Technicians Training.

Kaija comes from a background in education. Earlier in her career she taught middle school and high school in Finland. Before joining AP-Networks, she worked as an instructional design consultant at Amoco, helping to implement the company-wide Amoco Common Process.

Kaija holds a master’s degree in History from Utah State University and a master’s degree in English, Theology, and Russian from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, where she also earned a teaching certificate.
