Joel Godfrey is a Senior Consultant with Asset Performance Networks, based out of the company’s office in Bethesda, Maryland. He also serves as the Practice Area Leader for the AP-Networks Value and Competitiveness Assessment of Plant-Based Projects (VCAP) service. Before joining the company, Joel served as a Nuclear Power Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was responsible for implementing numerous process improvements that resulted in significant cost and time savings.
Since joining AP-Networks, Joel has been instrumental in helping clients to develop effective work processes and quality assurance programs. He has also aided clients in strengthening their turnaround and capital project performance through the execution of Turnaround Assist Programs (T-AP), Integrated Turnaround Assist Programs (iT-AP), and Risk Based Scope Reviews (RBSR). Additionally, Joel is in charge of growing and optimizing AP-Networks’ extensive library of job aids.
As a Quality Assurance Officer aboard the USS Bremerton, Joel developed a plan-to-plan process for quality assurance work packages that reduced errors and rework by 90 percent and saved two months of potential lost sea time per year. In the same role, he overhauled work package review processes, improving approval time by 83 percent. Throughout his naval career, Joel was responsible for streamlining several additional audit, training, safety, and maintenance processes. In his role as an Opposition Warfare Operations Officer, he coordinated the navies of four separate countries to support U.S. training efforts.
Joel holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy, and an MBA from the Naval Postgraduate School.
