Ernie Schutt is a Subject Matter Expert with Asset Performance Networks. He possesses over 40 years of experience in the refining and petrochemical business. Most recently, Ernie was Managing Director of Operations Excellence for Koch Industries, Inc. in Wichita, KS. In this role, he was responsible for supporting the development of Koch’s Operations Excellence capability, including reliability, turnarounds, energy, and project execution. His team facilitated the transfer of best practices and knowledge sharing across companies to accelerate organizational learning and improvement. Ernie was also responsible for maintaining, improving, and communicating the KII Operations Excellence Framework that provides best practice guidelines for Koch companies.

Ernie began his career with Koch companies in 1999 in Corpus Christi, Texas serving in various refinery operations and technical leadership roles. In 2005, Ernie transferred to INVISTA S.à.r.l. as site manager at the Victoria, Texas Nylon Intermediates plant. Following this assignment, Ernie was Vice President Operations, INVISTA S.à.r.l. North America Nylon Intermediates. In 2009, Ernie joined the KII Operations Excellence team as Director Operating Capability.

Prior to joining Koch, Ernie spent 23 years with Amoco Oil Company in various leadership roles supporting operations, supply and logistics, and business development at Amoco’s major refineries and Chicago, IL corporate office.

Ernie holds a chemical engineering degree from Texas Tech University, an MBA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, and an Executive MBA from the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
